Brooklyn-based theater company DangerLion Productions was founded in 2012 by Lia Tamborra and Harry Einhorn, who began their shenanigans as teenagers in the badlands of suburban New Jersey. DangerLion is dedicated to creating original, new, unique, and stylistically diverse musical theater and operettas. Our goal is to push the boundaries of modern musical theater, drawing from sources as vast as English Music Hall to Bollywood. Together, Lia and Harry have been spotted delighting audiences throughout NYC with their comedic musical stylings. Apart, they have performed and created theater across the world in India, Italy, the Czech Republic, and South Africa, in Balkan bands, Tibetan Opera, comedic one-woman shows, Buddhist praise music, performance art, and children’s theater. Dangersparkle & The Lion was their inaugural full-fledged production and was met with acclaim, garnering many nominations and awards. DangerLion Productions now available for hire.
Lia Barcellona Tamborra
Lia is a graduate of Playwright’s Horizons Theater School. She has toured Italy as a children’s musical theater performer with Theatrino, devised community-based theater in Johannesburg, toured the tri-state area as a Puppeteer with Puppetonia, and worked with Black Snow Theater Company in the Czech Republic. She has sung with Prague-based gypsy bands “Ibsulon” and “Gypsy Apple Strudel” and founded Miami-based band “The Trouble Mob.” In addition, Lia is a published travel writer, has taught English in Indonesia, Miami, Italy, and New York, is an active member in the New York improv scene. She is the proud co-founder of DangerLion.
Harry Einhorn
HArry is a graduate from Northwestern University’s theater department. He can be found performing experimental theater (The Cell, Robert Moss Theater, The Tank), directing/adapting/devising site-specific work (Highline, Central Park, Madison Ave.), composing chamber music (Rubin Museum, The Cell), singing in professional church choirs (St. John Divine), playing in bands, and teaching about Himalayan Art (Rubin Museum). He has worked on theatrical productions in India where he regularly travels to study Tibetan; he has had a series of travel vlogs featured in the Rubin Museum galleries, and his production Samaya, a multimedia performance piece based on Buddhist texts which he composed, directed, and performed in, opened to acclaim at La Sala in Williamsburg last June. He has recently premiered original choral work with C4, a contemporary music vocal ensemble and is studying Hindustani classical vocal music.
Balint Varga
Balint is a composer, conductor, and music director originally from Budapest, Hungary. His musicals include: Kobolds (produced at Emerson in 2012), Darlings of Broadway, Houdini: The Musical, and Why Don’t I Have A Girlfriend? Previous musical direction credits include: West Side Story, Oliver!, Assassins, Kobolds, and Berklee Goes Broadway. He’s worked throughout Europe in many production, including as Oliver!, Jekyll and Hyde, Fiddler on the Roof, Chess (also co-orchestrated), Jesus Christ Superstar, They’re Playing Our Song (orchestration), and most recently, Roman Polanski’s Dance of the Vampires (Budapest/Antwerp/St. Petersburg).He graduated from Berklee College of Music where he studied composition and conducting. He is also currently music directing for Fiddlehead Theatre Company (Little Princess and Aida).
